Jones Appeal Denied In Wife Burning Case

kristopher jonesA former Sherrard man convicted of setting his wife on fire has been denied in his latest appeal. The ruling handed down January 24th by the Third District Appellate Court in Ottawa involving 44 year old Kristopher Jones. They noted he had a fair trial in 2005. His original conviction and sentence was affirmed. He was found guilty of attempted murder and heinous battery for the June of 2004 incident which nearly killed his estranged wife. He was sentenced to 30-years in prison. Jones is in custody at the Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg. Since 2008, he has unsuccessfully filed successive post conviction petitions to have his conviction reversed.
