Illinois City Man Wants $500,000 Bond Lowered in DUI Case

An Illinois City man wants his $500,000 bond lowered as he awaits trial on Class 1 felony DUI charges in both Mercer and Rock Island Counties.  A bond reduction hearing for 45 year old William Gorham is set for next Wednesday in Rock Island County Circuit Court.  Gorham posted 10-percent of his original $50,000 bond or $5,000 cash in his Mercer County case on December 22nd, but then was arrested in late January in Rock Island County. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee told WRMJ last December that Gorham has four prior DUI’s on his record and one pending in Muscatine County. Gorham is also facing a Class 3 felony of possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID card and a Class 4 felony of driving while license revoked in Mercer County. He remains in custody at the Rock Island County Jail.
