The playoff brackets were released for the 2017 IHSA Football Playoffs on Saturday night. Three local schools learned who they would be facing in the first round. Mercer County (5-4) will be traveling to the Sangamon Valley Conference champion Clifton (Central) Comets (7-2) in the first round of the 2A playoffs. Kick off is 2 p.m. Saturday. Also in 2A, the Orion Chargers (7-2) are hosting Rockford Christian (5-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday. And Rockridge (8-1) is in the 2A playoffs as well, playing at home at 2 p.m. Saturday against El-Paso Gridley (5-4).
