Heavy Rain Forecast For WRMJ Listening Area

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN QUAD CITIES HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF ILLINOIS… IOWA AND NORTHEAST MISSOURI… INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS… IN ILLINOIS… BUREAU… HANCOCK… HENDERSON… HENRY IL… MCDONOUGH… MERCER… PUTNAM… ROCK ISLAND… WARREN AND WHITESIDE. IN IOWA… DES MOINES… HENRY IA… JEFFERSON… LEE… LOUISA… MUSCATINE… SCOTT AND VAN BUREN. IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI… CLARK AND SCOTLAND.

* FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING

* 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY. THUNDERSTORMS MAY MOVE OVER THE SAME AREAS AND PRODUCE EXCESSIVE RAINFALL.

* THE GROUND ACROSS THE AREA IS QUITE MOIST FROM RAINFALL LAST WEEK. ANY ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN WILL SATURATE THE GROUND AND RUN OFF QUICKLY INTO AREA WATERWAYS.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE. MONITOR FORECASTS AND TAKE ACTION IF FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS ARE ISSUED OR FLASH FLOODING DEVELOPS.

.A STRONG SPRING STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY. MOISTURE LEVELS WILL INCREASE IN THE ATMOSPHERE AND ARE FORECAST TO APPROACH 1.5 INCHES. THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP ON WEDNESDAY AND BECOME WIDESPREAD WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN.
