Outgoing State FFA Vice President and Mercer County High School grad Rachel Hawk honored at this week’s 86th Annual Illinois FFA Convention in Springfield. Hawk was presented the J.E. Hill Scholarship, which provides $1,000 of college education financial support to each of the five major state officers as they complete their year of service. The scholarship was established in memory of J. E. Hill, who was the first supervisor of agriculture education in Illinois. Hawk is a 2013 graduate of Mercer County High School. She plans on attending the University of Illinois, studying animal sciences.
