‘Food Evolution’ Panel Discussion Includes Input From Lower Rock Island County Farmer

A lower Rock Island County farmer participates in a panel discussion following a complimentary showing of the critically acclaimed documentary “Food Evolution”.  The viewing was at Davenport’s Putnam Museum last night and the documentary takes on the debate of genetically modified organisms or GMO crops. Some good discussion says 1999 Rockridge grad Todd Stegmiller, who farms near Illinois City.

The Mercer, Rock Island and Henry County Farm Bureaus hosted the complimentary showing. The panel also included Dr. Joel Stafstrom—a biology professor from Northern Illinois University; Megan Dwyer—a conventional and non-GMO farmer in Henry County; and Dr. Lia Nightingale –a professor of nutrition at Palmer College.
The panel discussion was moderated by WRMJ News Director Jim Taylor.
