Eagles Tripped Up In LTC Tourney, Tigers Top Chargers

Mercer County was denied a chance to play for the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament championship game as they were downed by Wethersfield 80-76 in overtime Friday night.  The Golden Eagles trailed by 13 in the first half and by 7 in the third quarter but battled back to take an 11 point lead, 63-52, midway through the fourth quarter but the Flying Geese outscored them 13-2 down the stretch to send the game into overtime tied at 65.  Wethersfield then controlled the extra period to post the win.  Jordan Metcalf had 33 to lead Mercer County.  Freshman Kyle Quagliano lead the Geese with 28.

In other tournament action, Annawan advanced to the championship game with a 65-47 win over Galva, Ridgewood beat West Central 78-72 and Princeville stopped Stark County 51-38.

In the Three Rivers Athletic Conference, Riverdale took over sole possession of the west division with a 44-42 win over Fulton.  Sherrard beat Orion 52-42 and Rockridge topped Erie 39-30.
