Mercer County’s baseball team made it a perfect weekend in Jacksonville with two victories on Saturday at the Play the Turf event. The Golden Eagles opened up with a 9-3 win over West Carroll. Sophomore lefty Jeff Garrett got the win and Mercer County banged out 12 hits as five different players got two hits. In the second game, Mercer County doubled up Serena 10-5. Geo Lee got the win on the hill and Brando Skovronski and Jake Reusch both had two hits apiece to lead the 10 hit attack. With the wins, Mercer County improved to 5-0 on the seaason.
In other action, Galva beat Midland 13-0 and Abingdon-Avon beat Galva 7-5.
