Mercer County and Rockridge picked up semi-final wins in the Class 2A Knoxville Regional Tuesday. Rockridge started the day hitting into a triple play in the first inning before rebounding for a 4-1 win over Annawan-Wethersfield. In the night cap, Mercer County rode the pitching of senior Dani Hagens for a 3-0 win over Kewanee. The two will meet Friday for the title. At the Alleman Regional, top seeded Erie-Prophetstown rolled to a 13-3, six inning win over Sherrard. At Mendota, Orion handled Hall 10-2 to advance to that championship game.
In baseball, Sherrard warmed up for their regional opener on Thursday taking on Rock Island but they lost 10-3. The game was tied at two before the Rocks exploded for eight runs in the third.
In soccer, Orion-Sherrard has little trouble with Galesburg in the Class 2A Rock Island Regional rolling to an 8-0 win. They will meet Rock Island Saturday for the championship. The Rocks beat Streator 5-1 in the other semi-final.
