Deer Harvest Down By 200 In Mercer County

The Mercer County deer harvest is almost 200 less than last year. Hunters took in 565 deer during the first firearm season last weekend.  That compares with 755 during the same period a year ago. Statewide, the numbers are also down–55,700 this year compared to 72,100 last year. Pike County hunters took in the most deer during the first weekend with 1,535. The second and final weekend of firearm deer season in Illinois is December 5th-through-8th.
