Conviction In Mercer County Bank Robbery Cases

dixonA Rock Island man will be sentenced this summer after being convicted of two Mercer County bank robberies. 27 year old DeAngelo Dixon was found guilty Monday night by a U.S. District Court jury in Rock Island. The jury trial began last week. He was facing a two count federal indictment of armed bank robbery stemming from the hold-ups of Union Federal Savings and Loan in Viola on November 8th, 2012 and First Community Bank in Sherrard one month later. Dixon has aggravated robbery and felon in possession of firearm convictions on his record out of Rock Island County and an aggravated battery conviction out of Peoria County. He remains in federal custody and will be sentenced July 10th.
