People in Illinois could be carrying guns in public, legally, as early as next week. State Representative Brandon Phelps says the Illinois State Police have put the final touches on the new concealed carry system and they’re ready to get the permits into people’s hands.

As a reminder, the permit holders will not be allowed to carry the guns in places like schools, courthouses, bars, and businesses that have a “No Guns Allowed” sign up in their entryway. But, they will be allowed to lock the gun in their car when they have to go inside a gun-free-zone.
