Bond Stays at $500,000 For Illinois City DUI Defendant

An Illinois City man denied in his attempt to get his $500,000 bond reduced as he awaits trial on Class 1 felony DUI charges in both Mercer and Rock Island Counties.  The ruling made yesterday in Rock Island County Circuit Court against 45 year old William Gorham. He posted 10-percent of his original $50,000 bond or $5,000 cash in his Mercer County case on December 22nd, but then was arrested in late January in Rock Island County. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee told WRMJ last December that Gorham has four prior DUI’s on his record and one pending in Muscatine County. He is also facing a Class 3 felony of possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID card and a Class 4 felony of driving while license revoked in Mercer County. He remains in custody at the Rock Island County Jail with a status hearing set for July 19th in Rock Island County.
