Attorney Representing Violent Mercer County Sex Offender Asks For Continuance

Darin Brock

The attorney representing a violent Mercer County sex offender has asked for a continuance in the latest legal matter.  Mark Cyr says he needs more time to review Bloomington, Illinois police reports, where his client–Darin Brock was arrested in January for battery and disorderly conduct. The Illinois Attorney General’s office wants to revoke the former Keithsburg man’s conditional discharge.  The 46 year old Brock was declared sexually violent in May of 2000 and was granted conditional release in November of 2008. He is back in custody with the Illinois Department of Human Services with a new court date to be set through the court administrator’s office in Rock Island. Brock was convicted of sexually assaulting an elderly Joy woman in 1990 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison before being declared sexually violent.
