Ameren Natural Gas Rates Lower This Winter

October 26th, 2013

ameren illinois logoWith temperatures dipping below freezing for the first time this year in many parts of the state, there’s a little good news about home heating bills.  Ameren says the price of natural gas will be about five-percent lower than last winter, meaning customers will pay between 53 and 55-cents-per-therm.  The winter weather will factor into the size of an individual customer’s bill, however.  Last winter, higher than normal temperatures meant customers used less natural gas; a return to normal temperatures could mean higher bills this year than last, even with a lower cost for the gas itself.
