ACE Camp Tuesday; 22nd Year For Mercer County Ag in the Classroom Event

More than 200 second graders from all over Mercer County will be gathering at the Mercer County Fairgrounds on Tuesday from 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to learn about agriculture and the environment. Mercer County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom co-sponsors this event with the Mercer County Soil & Water Conservation District.
The day allows students from the Apollo, New Boston, Sherrard, and Winola Grade Schools to have hands-on experiences in areas related to agriculture, conservation and the environment in addition to providing some fun activities. The students will rotate from station to station as area conservation and agriculture experts teach the students a wide variety of topics ranging from animal care to an edible landfill.
This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the event.  Over 4,700 Mercer County students have attended ACE camp since 1996.
