Farm Bill Deadline Looming

December 26th, 2012

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is studying what changes will be needed if no Farm Bill is passed by the end of next Monday. USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack says they will do what is needed if farm support programs are rolled back to the 1940s, but adds they don’t want to be forced to do so.

He says if Congress takes no action on a Farm Bill or extending current programs by Monday, all federal farm support rules and regulations will revert back to the 1949 Farm Bill.
