Chances Slim For White Christmas In Western Illinois

December 15th, 2012

The chances for a white Christmas is Western Illinois are dwindling. State Climatologist Jim Angel says based on historical date, there’s usually a 50-percent chance that at least the northern third of Illinois, including Mercer County, will have snow on the ground at Christmas, but this year will likely be the exception.

Angel says most of Illinois is still waiting for the first snowfall of the season. The snow that has fallen in just a few spots hasn’t struck around for long.
