Former New Boston Man Convicted In Puppy Mill Case

December 7th, 2012

A former New Boston man has been ordered to pay over $4,000 in veterinary bills and $1,500 in fines after being convicted in a puppy mill case. 50 year old Ricky Lee Bonjour was found guilty of four misdemeanor animal cruelty counts following a bench trial in Mercer County Circuit Court. He was charged in January after Mercer County Animal Control rescued over 40 dogs at his home. The dogs were reportedly in very poor health and were not receiving any veterinary care. A 30 day jail sentence will be stayed as long as the restitution and fines are paid. Bonjour is also prohibited from breeding any animals.
Animal control was able to find new homes for all of the dogs.
