Mercer County High School Student Designs Joy Holiday Postal Cancellation

Business is about to pick up at the Joy Post Office. Saturday is the first day the special holiday postal cancellation will be available. The postmark is offered through December and this year’s design is from Mercer County High School sophomore Shawna Schroder of rural Joy.

This is the 27th year for the Joy holiday postmark. Last year, 9,723 cards and letters were cancelled in Joy during December. The Joy Post Office is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to Noon and 1-to-4 p.m., and Saturday, 7:30 to 10 a.m. You can also send your cards and letters already stamped, in a package, to the Holiday Station, 202 Main St., Joy, IL 61260.
