The Stark County Rebels were able to hold off the United Red Storm in the first round of the Class 1A football playoffs Friday night.  The Rebels scored twice within a minute of play to break a 14-14 tie in the fourth quarter to win 28-14.  Stark County defeated United in week nine of the regular season 28-0.  The game was tied 14-14 at the half and neither team could score in the third quarter.  Stark County will now meet the winner of today’s Warren at Mooseheart game in week two.

In other local play-off action, Macomb won over Quincy Notre Dame for the second week in a row 21-19 in Class 4A, Illini West beat Tremont 24-6 in Class 2A , Normal U-High topped Galesburg 27-6 in Class 5A
