New High School Not Part Of Facility Plan For Mercer County School District

October 10th, 2012

As the Mercer County School District examines facility usage, one thing that won’t be considered is building a new high school. Superintendent Alan Boucher says there is no truth to that rumor.

As a way to cut expenses, the school board is exploring closing a building. At a public forum last week in New Boston, schools in New Boston and Joy were mentioned as possibilities and the audience also wanted Apollo to be considered. In conjunction with that is also the idea of attendance centers-where all kindergarten through 2nd graders in the district would attend one building and 3rd and 4th graders would attend another. The board hopes to make a final decision in December or January.
