Western Illinois congressional candidate Cheri Bustos wins the endorsement of the Illinois Education Association. Although the IEA did endorse three other Democratic candidates in Illinois, they also support two Republicans. IEA vice president Kathi Griffin says in endorsing Bustos and fellow Democrat Tammy Duckworth, the union was unhappy with the incumbents Bobby Schilling and Joe Walsh.

The IEA also endorsed Democrats Bill Enyart and Dr. David Gill as well as Republicans Judy Biggert and Robert Dold.
