The Rockridge Rocket golf team won the Petersburg Porta Sectional today at Shambalee Golf Course.  The Rockets team total of 317 was their third lowest total of the season under cold and blustery conditions.  The Rockets rallied on the back nine to pull out the win.  Rockridge Senior Dylan Daxon was the medalist with a one under 71 and his teammate, Chad Nitz recovered from a front nine 44 to shoot a four under 32 on the back to finish second with a 76.  The Rockets will make their second trip to state in school history this Friday and Saturday at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington.

The news was not good for our area girls teams at the Lincoln Sectional.  Rochester won the event with a 340.  Quincy Notre Dame finished second at 345 and Morton was third with a 362.  Mercer County finished 6th and Rockridge 11th.  The only girls to advance individually were United’s Justine Peel, who tied for 7th and West Central’s Brock Bessine who tied for 10th with an 86 and the Heat’s Cierra Pulse with an 88.
