Describing Mercer County As Garden Spot And Not Drought

July 9th, 2012

Drought has been the key buzzword when describing Illinois corn and soybean crops, but what about “garden spot”? Yes, there are some areas of the state that are doing pretty good. Ken Reinhardt of Seaton can’t complain too much about his operation with about 5-inches of rain recorded in his rain gauge during June.

He says he has been raging an ongoing battle with the Japanese Beetle.

In addition to Mercer County, Reinhardt also has farmground in Rock Island, Henderson and McDonough Counties. He says the McDonough County property near Macomb is suffering from drought like conditions.
