Closing Reynolds Elementary Part Of Rockridge Budget Reduction Recommendations

The Rockridge School Board will consider a recommendation to approve 2013-14 budget reductions at Monday night’s regular meeting. They include:

1. Move Rockridge Junior High from an 8 period day to a 7 period day.

2. Consolidate Language Arts offerings at Rockridge Junior High from 2 classes per grade to 1 class per grade level.

3. Move all 6th grades classes to Rockridge Junior High.

4. Increase class sizes at 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, moving from 4 sections per grade level to 3 sections per grade level.

5. Close Reynolds Elementary School

6. Reduce number of Special Education staff at the elementary level by 1.5 positions

7. Initiate student parking fees of $50 at the High School.

8. Increase lunch/breakfast fees for Elementary, Junior High and High School. Elementary – Breakfast from $1.50 to $1.60; Lunch from $2.00 to $2.10; Junior High/High School – Breakfast from $1.50 to $1.60; Lunch from $2.25 to $2.40; Adults – Breakfast from $1.75 to $2.75; Lunch from $2.75 to $3.75.
