Monmouth-Roseville Falls In Super-Sectional

March 7th, 2013

Monmouth-Roseville’s bid to reach Peoria fell short Wednesday night in DeKalb when they fell to second ranked Winnebago 74-53.  The Titans cold shooting early in the contest forced them play catch up after being tied with the Indians 10-10 at the end of the first quarter.  Winnebago lead 26-22 at halftime and opened up a nine point lead, 51-44 after three.  18 Monmouth-Roseville turnovers also hurt the Titan cause.  Monmouth-Roseville was lead by Martel Hunter’s 19 points and Treyvon Smith’s 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Both will be back next season for the Titans as they closed out the year at 26-5.  The 32-0 Indians will now face sixth ranked Seton Academy in the semifinals Friday night at Carver Arena.  Top ranked Harrisburg will face eighth ranked St. Joe-Ogden in the other Class 2A semifinal.
