Monmouth-Roseville Back To Sectional Championship, Eagles Run Well Indoors

February 28th, 2013

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans advanced to the sectional championship game for the second year in a row with a 74-48 victory over Tremont at the Class 2A Farmington Sectional.  The Titans will await the winner of tonight’s other semi-final between West Central Conference foe Rockridge (23-4), who they have split two games with this season, or the Fieldcrest Knights (24-5), who they lost to in double overtime at last year’s Princeton Sectional.  Monmouth-Roseville lead by five points after the first quarter and upped the lead to 13 at halftime, 36-23.  They opened the third quarter with a 6-0 run and were never challenged, leading 53-33 after the period.  Junior point guard Martell Hunter lead the Titans with a game high 19 points and Junior forward Trayvon Smith had 17.
