A Viola man faces up to ten years in prison after being found guilty of a Class X felony of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child during a stipulated bench trial. The ruling was handed down today in Mercer County Circuit Court against 41 year old James Gladwin. Two similar Class X felonies were dismissed as part of a negotiated agreement. Gladwin will be sentenced at a later date. The charges were in connection with a 2009 case involving a girl under the age of 13. Gladwin was previously sentenced to three years in prison for a separate criminal sexual abuse case, also in 2009.
