Mercer County School District’s Automated Phone Alert System Overloaded

February 22nd, 2013

Mercer County School District Superintendent Alan Boucher spoke with WRMJ this morning. He says the district’s automated phone alert system that lets parents know of cancellations, early dismissals and delays was overloaded this morning. The company that provides the service also works with many other schools throughout Illinois, Missouri and Iowa, and most were utilizing the system for weather related announcements this morning.

Boucher says there are many other ways to learn about school delays and cancellations. The information is posted on the district’s website at www.mercerschools.org and on media outlets like WRMJ and wrmj.com.
