Mercer County Board Votes To Fire St. Germaine

February 5th, 2013

Mercer County Board Chairman Jeff McWhorter leading Tuesday night's regular meeting.

Following a short executive session, the Mercer County Board voted unanimously to dismiss Supervisor of Assessments Don St. Germaine Tuesday night.  Mercer County Board Chairman Jeff McWhorter said St. Gerrmaine was fired for “violating number two of his contract, misfeasance, malfeasance and nonfeasance of duties”.  McWhorter said he wasn’t sure but that St. Germaine has 20 or 21 days to appeal the decision, and the board would have 30 days to convene a hearing if he should do so.  St. Germaine told WRMJ he had retained an attorney and he would seek a wrongful termination suit if he was fired. He said he will seek pay through the end of his contract, which is November 30, 2014.  He did not attend the meeting.
