Sherrard School Board Discusses Budget Cuts

Sherrard School Board president Tim Arbet discusses potential cuts at community forum.

The Sherrard School District had to cut $1.2 million in 2010 and they’re looking to trim as much as $600,000 this year. The financial challenges were the topic of a community forum at the Sherrard High School auditorium last night. Superintendent Becky Rodocker.

Final decisions on cuts will be made in March. Compounding the problem for Sherrard is declining enrollment. They’ve lost 217 students over 12 years and Rodocker says that trend of losing 18-to-20 students per year looks to be continuing.
