State Owes Area Youth Detention Center $5-Million

Illinois owes a juvenile detention facility in Galesburg nearly five-million dollars. That’s how much the state has promised officials from the Mary Davis Detention Center, a facility that serves more than a dozen Illinois counties, including Mercer County. Because of the state budget problems, nine-billion-dollars in bill payments are backlogged. In the meantime, the detention center has had to lay off some employees.
