Mercer County hunters take in over 1,500 deer during all seasons this past fall and this winter. The numbers break down with 423 deer during the archery season, 18 during the youth season, 926 from the firearm season, 40 from the muzzleloader season, and 116 during the late winter season for a total harvest of 1,560. Statewide, Illinois hunters bagged just under 181,000 deer.
