Rural America Losing Influence In Washington

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says the agriculture industry and rural America need to change course, as rural areas are losing influence in Washington, D.C.

Vilsack says rural America is losing population and power.

The former Iowa governor told Farm Bureau members recently that as more people move to cities, rural voices have lost power. Vilsack says agriculture policy has been changing to reflect that, and encouraged farmers to get more engaged in Washington, DC and build alliances in the Defense and Treasury departments.
