The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department could have a deal in place by March to house Cook County inmates. Sheriff Tom Thompson says final details are being worked out.

Currently, the Mercer County Jail is housing around 32 U.S. Marshal’s Service prisoners, according to Thompson.
