Mercer County hunters harvest 521 deer during the first firearm hunting weekend Nov. 22-24. That is about 100 less than last year’s total of 618. Rock Island County hunters took in 415, Warren County 303, Knox County 704, Henderson County 264, and Henry County 254. Statewide, the total deer harvest from the first weekend was 50,173, which is around 8,000 less than last year’s total of 58,836. The second and final firearm season is Dec. 5-8. Last year during that four day stretch Mercer County hunters brought in 233 deer.
