New Ball Diamond Still Planned For North Side, But Not This Year

A new varsity baseball diamond won’t happen this year for Aledo’s North Side Park. Mayor Chris Hagloch says even though the project has received a $30,000 grant from the Looser-Flake Charitable Foundation, additional grant funds are being requested through the state.

OSLAD is the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development program through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The site for the new diamond is just west of the existing big diamond and is currently being farmed.  The property once served as the Roosevelt Military Academy football field.
