Mercer County Hunters Take In 851 Deer During Two Firearm Seasons

The Mercer County deer harvest up in 2018. Hunters bagged 851 during the two firearm weekends, which is 18 greater than last year. The deer kill was 618 in the first weekend Nov. 16-18 and 233 during the second weekend Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 Statewide, the deer harvest was also slightly up this year 80,896 compared to last year’s 80,117 says Ed Cross with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Jackson County had the biggest deer harvest in Illinois at 2,439 during the two firearm weekends.
