Work on the way for Aledo’s Monument Park. The park includes a memorial honoring the 352 Mercer County soldiers killed during the Civil War. Aledo City Administrator Erin Knackstedt says the base of the monument needs more care..
US Heritage Group out of Chicago will be paid $6,700 for the work. The park was originally dedicated in 1868. It’s located just south of the former Mercer County Hospital.
