The Veterans Day “Battle of the Bars” event in Mercer County raised enough funds for the kneeling soldier statue project at the VFW. A number of local businesses were involved in the fundraiser says organizer Nick Seefeld.
Seefeld says the event raised $9,500 with River Ratz Bar & Grill in New Boston winning the trophy. The statue will be picked up this weekend in Kellogg, Minnesota and will be stored over the winter and then placed at the VFW in the spring.
