Bustos To Play Key Role For Democratic Party In 2018 Election Cycle

Not only will Western Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos face a challenge from Republicans in the 2018 election cycle, but she’s also been appointed by Democrats to help candidates with game planning, specifically in rural areas. Bustos was one of just 12 Democratic lawmakers last year that won in a district carried by President Trump.

Bustos says she represents rural interests as the only member of Democratic Party leadership from the Midwest.

And Bustos says there were some valuable lessons to be learned for the Democratic Party from the Trump win last November.

In the 17th District, three Republican candidates will be running in the March primary—Galesburg businessman Mark Kleine along with Craig Cameron and Jon Schuh.
