Mercer County Unemployment Rate 4.6 Percent

Mercer County’s unemployment rate is at 4.6 percent. The July number released today from the Illinois Department of Employment Security and represents a seven-point improvement from the same time a year ago. Unemployment is also down from year over year levels in Henry, Henderson, Knox, Rock Island and Warren Counties mainly due to employment gains in the construction and financial activities sectors. Statewide, the unemployment rate is at 4.9 percent, but job growth remains below the national average says Bob Gough with IDES.

The national unemployment rate is at 4.6 percent. The highest unemployment rate in the region is 6.6 percent in Fulton County.
