Aledo Sex Offender To Remain In Custody

A former Aledo man will remain committed under Illinois’ Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act. 43 year old Richard Stallings’ case will be reviewed again in another year while he receives treatment at an Illinois Department of Human Services secure facility, according to a finding entered today in Mercer County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison in April 2004 on a Class X felony of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. The charge involved a girl under the age of 13. Prior to that offense, Stallings served time in federal prison after being convicted of possessing child pornography. The Illinois Attorney General’s office filed the sexually violent petition against Stallings in 2015.
