Sherrard Bus Driver DUI Case Moved To December

A bench trial has been continued to later this year in the case of a former Sherrard school bus driver charged in a DUI accident earlier this year. The trial is now scheduled for December 4th for 34 year old Dustin Leath of New Windsor. The new date was set this week in Mercer County Circuit Court. Leath is accused of being under the influence of drugs and crashing into a tree along Illinois Route 17 last March. One student was on the bus and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Sherrard superintendent Alan Boucher told WRMJ earlier this year that Leath was a long-term sub for Sherrard and no longer drives for the district.
