IHSA’s Hickman Says Sportsmanship Getting Better In Illinois

February 18th, 2014

hickmanhickmanhickmanmarty hickmanIHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman believes sportsmanship is improving in high school athletics. He made those comments this week after announcing that Harrisburg and Seton Academy would be reinstated for this year’s IHSA state basketball tournament. The two were penalized following last year’s heated state championship game.

The officials that worked that game were also sanctioned as well. Hickman says the IHSA worked with some highly respected NCAA Division I basketball officials to put together an unprecedented educational program. Like the schools, he says those officials completed their requirements and are eligible to work postseason games this season.
