Texas Steer Brings $200,000 At Livestock Show

texas champiosn steerLivestock shows big business in Texas. How big? The grand champion steer at the Fort Worth stock show last weekend brought in a ton of money–$200,000. The 13-hundred pound crossbred steer named “Here I Am” was shown by Stanton High School senior Flint Newman who says it is the result of a lot of hard work.

The buyer was Coors Distributing of Fort Worth. The steer will go to the Fort Worth Zoo and later to a ranch. The Junior Sale of Champions generated $3.3-million dollars for the youth exhibitors.
The Illinois State Fair grand champion steer brought $62,000 last summer at the Governor’s Sale of Champions. It was shown by Nelson England of Oneida.
