It’s not as bad as 1993 or 2008, but similar patterns are developing to those record Mississippi River flood years. The river is now expected to rise to 17.6 feet at Keithsburg next week–which is three-and-a-half feet above flood stage says longtime water and sewer superintendent Steve Nylin.
kburg flood update
Nylin has been with the city for 36-years. The river topped 24-feet in 1993 and 2008 in Keithsburg, doing significant damage to the town. He says in those two years rain continued on a frequent basis, which has been the case thus far this spring.
UPDATE: Mississippi River now expected to rise to 19.1 feet in Keithsburg by next Wednesday, June 5th.
